Life on the Farm – A Passion Project

When I’m not working on sheds, I’m out on the farm—and truth be told, that’s where I feel most at home. I’ve been a farmer pretty much my whole life. I come from Amish heritage and learned the ropes of farming and ranching as a young boy. It’s always been part of who I am.

After marrying my wife, we raised our family—11 kids—in a home I built on a 20-acre lot. We lived there for about 20 years, and even as we moved around after that, I always made sure we had space for a few chickens, goats, maybe a horse or two. Farming never left my life—it just looked a little different depending on where we were.

These days, we’re on 80 acres—almost more land than I know what to do with—and I’m still learning new things. I’ve taken up baling hay in recent years, which has turned into a great way to spend time with my adult kids. Several of them are starting farms of their own now. My oldest daughter runs a small dairy farm with Jersey cows and makes cheese, yogurt, soaps, and skincare products from the milk. She’s even started teaching cheesemaking classes and feeding her local community with what she makes. It makes me proud to see the next generation carrying on this kind of work.

On our farm, we raise beef cattle, pork, poultry, and hay. We sell what we can to friends and neighbors—nothing too fancy, just good, honest food from animals that are well cared for. This isn’t part of the shed business, and we’re not set up for online orders. I just wanted to share a little bit about this side of life because it matters to me. It’s a passion project—but one that’s deeply rooted in hard work, heritage, and family.
